What is Subify?
Subify is a subscription and recurring purchase app for Shopify (not to be confused with Logan Paul’s subscription program for YouTube creators).
Subify Subscriptions is a user-friendly app that allows sellers to offer customers a range of physical and digital products and services on a repeat basis. With the app, you can increase your revenue by encouraging your customers to place recurring orders for offers they love (with flexible discounts and delivery frequency options).
Parent Company Overview
Hengam, also known as Ronash Solutions Limited, was founded by Ali Rajool (currently the CEO). Before the Vancouver-based company’s launch in 2020, Rajool ran a push notification service called Pushe, with a home base in Iran.
Not only are the Hengam team the creators of Subify Subscriptions, but they also specialize in providing a range of services related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. The company is passionate about leveraging the power of AI and data to help businesses improve their operations and drive growth.
While they’ve only been around for a few years, Hengram seems to have a solid foundation, with at least $600K in seed funding since their launch.
The Subify Subscriptions Shopify App
Subify Subscriptions gives you the flexibility to choose a subscription model that is fitting for your store, whether it be creating subscription products to sell goods and services regularly, offering membership plans, or creating innovative subscription boxes for your subscribers.
By enlisting Subify, you can create a loyal customer base and provide your audience with a hassle-free shopping experience. Furthermore, you can easily manage your subscription-based products and services, track your subscribers’ activity, and support them to ensure a positive experience.
With this app, you can set your subscription offer, and get it up and running in about 90 seconds.
✓ Product subscriptions — Enable customers to pre-purchase products on a recurring weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis.
✓ Subscription boxes — Let your customers purchase recurring, curated “boxes” that include a selection of products within a certain theme.
✓ Memberships — Allow your customers the opportunity to participate in membership offers that might include discounts, courses, coaching, or other exclusive benefits and perks.
✓ Installments — If you’re selling high-ticket items, Subify can even help you give customers the chance to make recurring, partial payments on certain items.
Simply put, we have not been able to find a better way to expand your business and increase your revenue while giving your customers the most convenient and personalized shopping experience possible.
To us, Subify is the creme de la creme of recurring revenue tools for Shopify store owners.
How Does Subify Work?
After installing the Subify app, you can easily set up your subscription options using the app’s user-friendly interface, choose the subscription model that works best for your business, and create subscription products and plans.
Are you interested in product subscriptions, memberships, subscription boxes, or all of the above? You can do all of the above in just a few clicks.
The app provides your customers with a user-friendly portal to manage their subscriptions. From skipping to pausing or canceling, your customers can make changes with ease.
Subify makes setting up a subscription service super easy. Not only can you quickly set up the widgets, but the app can also automatically add them to your Shopify admin panel.
If you’re looking for customizable widget templates that seamlessly integrate with your store, Subify’s got you covered! Their team will help you tweak elements within the widgets to match your branding at no extra cost.
When you need app support of any kind, Subify’s customer service team is top-notch — they’re incredibly knowledgeable and always on standby to assist you with response times under a minute.
And, if you want expert help with your subscription setup or marketing strategy, Subify’s customer success managers are there to guide you every step of the way.
The bottom line is that the current users love Subify, and they’re able to use it for a spectrum of subscription model eCommerce options.
Bold Soaps, for example, is not a subscription box business, but they use Subify to offer the subscribe & save option to customers, to offer a ~15% discount on recurring orders.
Subify Pricing
Subify’s pricing is pretty simple and gives new users a chance to try it out before they pay with a 14-day free trial and up to 10 subscriptions at no cost.
After that, you’ll pay from $9 to $99 per month +2% per transaction for a plan built to scale with your business — there’s virtually no risk to giving the app a shot.
Subify App Standout Features
Here are our top highlights of the Subify app:
✓ Customizable — In Subify, you’ll have not only a variety of widget templates to choose from, but you can fully customize your subscription options — amounts, pricing tiers, discounts, and payment frequency.
✓ 24/7 support — The customer support team is available to help you with setup, customize the design of your widgets, and even help you determine which subscription model will have the highest impact for your business (this alone is worth well over $9 per month).
✓ Customer portal — When customers make an agreement with you to place a recurring order, they should always have an option to easily cancel — there’s nothing more infuriating than being charged for a product or service that you don’t want — luckily, Subify has your back on this front, with a built-in, easy-to-navigate customer portal that gives them full control over their subscriptions. So, you don’t have to worry about manually canceling recurring orders (unless the customer needs your help with a technical issue).
✓ Quick & easy set-up — Again, it only takes about a minute and a half to set up.
It’s hard to imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to use the app…which is why we’re going to give you the bad news next.
What are the Downsides of Subify?
Here are some factors that you might not like about this app.
First, in addition to the monthly costs for the app, Subify charges a fee for every purchase made with the app — while at least one user was off put by this, it’s clearly stated in the pricing terms, and this is around the same that PayPal charges for transaction fees (we think it’s a fair cost).
Next, customer support may not always be available as advertised. For example, in December 2022, one user reported that they weren’t able to reach anyone when they reached out. To play devil’s advocate, we’ve come to expect hiccups like this from all brands, especially around the holidays.
Finally, depending on your store theme you may not be in love with the aesthetics available with the pre-created widget designs…which is why it’s fantastic to offer customized widget design.
Can you live with these drawbacks? Only you can answer this.
Subify App Competitors
Subify isn’t the only subscription management app on the Shopify app marketplace. Apostle™ and Seal Subscriptions™ are in the running with similar offers. But, how do these apps stack up next to one another, side-by-side?
Subify™ | Appstle™ | Seal Subscriptions™ | |
Product Subscriptions | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Memberships | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
Subscription Boxes | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Customer Portal | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ |
Monthly Pricing | $9 – $99 per month +2% | $10 – $100 per month | $4.95 – $20 per month |
Free Tier Restrictions | Up to 10 monthly subs | Up to $500 in monthly subs | Up to 150 monthly subs |
With transaction fees, Subify might cost slightly more than their top competitors, but their offer is more feature-rich. And, compared to Appstle™ and Seal Subscriptions,™ Subify has the highest customer satisfaction score.
It seems like Subify is the clear winner here.
