PayPal Multi-Order Shipping Has Been Discontinued

Unfortunately, some of the tools we love eventually end up in the software cemetery. When this happens, they’re not likely to be resurrected. But, this doesn’t mean that we need to weep — rather, there’s usually a new, often better, solution available.

Read to the end to learn more about the death of PayPal Multi-Order Shipping and how you can access the features you love with the options available today.

Here’s what’s in store:

So, let’s get to it!

What Was PayPal Multi-Order Shipping?

PayPal’s Multi-Order Shipping feature allowed users to create and print multiple shipping labels in a single pass. It was discontinued in October 2018, but at the time of its discontinuation, it was still only available to U.S. businesses with PayPal Premier or Business accounts.

In theory, this feature would allow you to save time and money by batch-processing your orders from an online store (or any other shipping-related activity that requires labels). This could be especially useful if you were selling products at wholesale prices or if you were shipping high volumes of items per week.

The fact that PayPal Multi-Order Shipping required a business account suggests that the company was marketing this feature mostly toward small businesses rather than individuals or groups of non-business entities like clubs or organizations—but, I can’t say for sure since I don’t have access to their data on this point.

How Did PayPal Multi-Order Shipping Work?

The service was useful for many sellers who needed to make shipping multiple orders at once. It’s also good for people who shop on Black Friday, or who need to ship out a bunch of packages in one day. Finally, the service could be used by anyone who wanted to ship two or more packages with the same carrier and class of service at once.

For example, say you have three orders that need to go out today, and you’re using USPS Priority Mail International (the most expensive shipping option). PayPal Multi-Order Shipping would let you print out one label which had all three addresses on it so that all three packages were sent out at once (but separately).

Where to Find PayPal Multi Order Shipping Notifications

If you were a PayPal Multi-Order Shipping user, you may have received an email from the company about this change. If not, the PayPal Multi-Order Shipping page has been updated with the necessary information.

The link to find your email address is still working as of this writing and was sent out on June 19, 2019. You can also check your settings page in either your account or through the app if you’re using PayPal on mobile devices.

How Do I Print Basic Labels Through PayPal?

I’ll start with the good news: you can still print basic labels through PayPal… So, yay!

To do so, log in to your PayPal account and follow these steps:

  • Click on “PayPal Multi-Order Shipping”
  • Click on “Print Shipping Labels”
  • Select the “Basic” option and click “Print Labels”

What Was the Fee to Use PayPal Multi-Order Shipping?

The fee was a flat rate of $1 per order. There were some exceptions to this, however. For example, if you were ordering in bulk, and the total value of your order was over $500, then you would be able to ship for free. Alternatively, if the total value of your order was over $1,000 and it had more than 10 items, then PayPal would waive their multi-order shipping fee for this order as well.

Finally (and most impressively), if your entire shipment amounted to over 2,500 bucks or more and had around 30 items or less on its way to its destination—then PayPal would once again waive its multi-order fee!

If only these numbers were still true today…

Are There Any Other Options for Creating and Printing Multiple Shipping Labels in Bulk?

Thankfully, there are new options for creating and printing multiple shipping labels in bulk.

PayPal ShipStation — Bulk labels and discounts
  • Use the integrated solution: PayPal has partnered with ShipStation, and will continue to integrate new features for a more robust fulfillment experience for merchants.
  • Third-party shipping solutions: Some companies offer free services with limited features while others charge monthly fees for more robust services such as tracking by location and managing packages by tracking numbers instead of names/addresses. For example, with an EasyShip account, you can get up to 90% off shipping costs from most major carriers (Keep in mind, EasyShip doesn’t play nice with ShipStation — you’ll have to pick one or the other).

Final Thoughts

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s official: PayPal Multi-Order Shipping has sailed into the sunset. 🌅 Yep, it’s joined the tech afterlife. But hold off on the tears because where one tool says goodbye, a bunch of others are waving hello.

Remember the days when printing a ton of shipping labels was a breeze? Pour one out for batch-processing magic. 📦✨ But guess what? The tech universe has a backup plan.

Enter integrated and third-party shipping solutions 🚀 They’re like the A-team of shipping, hanging out with big names like Shopify and Amazon FBA. No need to invite third-party chaos. Just stick a label on each order, hit print, and call it a day.
